This basic Musashi Katana is inspired by Miyamoto Musashi, a Japanese swordsman, writer, and ronin who was known for his 61 undefeated duels record. Also known as a sensei, he was known as an author for the book of five rings and dokk\u014dd\u014d.<\/p>\n
This Musashi Katana has a shinogi zukuri blade forged from 1095 steel, clay tempered, and mirror polished to reveal sanbonsugi hamon, a temper line that resembles a cluster of three cedar trees. It also features a bohi that reduces the sword’s overall weight and improve its point of balance. The edge of the blade has a hardness as high as HRC 60 while the portion of the blade near the hilt has a hardness around HRC40. The blade is secured to the hilt with a mekugi.<\/p>\n
Staying true to Musashi, this katana is equipped with iron double ring tsuba; blackened brass fuchi, kashira, menuki; brass seppa; and brass fuji habaki. The Haichi style tsuka is first covered with white samegawa held in place with kapok ito from Japan. The handle includes hishigami, small folded paper triangles placed under the tsuka-maki wrap to uphold its shape and provide a firmer grip<\/p>\n
