As its name indicates, this sword is Dragon King’s take on a modern wakizashi. Touted to use the best technology, this wakizashi has a shinogi zukuri (curved with yokote and shinogi close to the mune) blade forged from 1566 high carbon steel and differentially heat treated. This produces a blade with a uniformed hardened microstructure, making it tough, hard, and retains its edge (60 HRC) well even with extended use. The heat treatment process also produces a beautiful suguha (relatively straight) hamon.<\/p>\n
This wakizashi’s sleek and smooth design is naturally accompanied by an unadorned black maru gata (round or circular) tsuba; copper habaki and seppa; along with silver colored menuki featuring a shishi. Also known as komainu, the shishi in Japanese culture represents protection, prosperity, success, strength, and resilience. <\/p>\n
Unlike traditional wakizashi, the textured tsuka for this sword that encapsulates the tang is made of G10, a high pressure fiberglass laminate known for being lightweight, strong, and durable. Two unremovable pins further secure the blade to the tsuka. <\/p>\n
